WHY DO WE HAVE AN AFTER PROM? Did you know that according to the U.S. Dept. of Transportation, on a typical prom weekend: 48 American teenagers are killed in vehicles, 5,202 are injured, and 40% of the deaths are alcohol-related?
• Statistics show that Prom-Graduation season - the months of April, May and June - is the most dangerous time for teens. One-third of the alcohol-related traffic fatalities involving teens each year occur during those months.
• According to MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) on the weekends in May 2000, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, FARS data reported that there were 246 total traffic fatalities.
• From the Prom/Graduation Weekend Alcohol-Related Fatalities 2000 report, 136 of the motor vehicle traffic fatalities (55.2%) were alcohol related.
With the help of the community and one another, parents can take a stand against the negative persuasion and fight the devastating statistics as reported by the NHTSA. Designed to insure the safety and well-being of high school teenagers, After Prom parties are a sure bet for free food, fun and entertainment and prizes for the students. Prom night is supposed to be a wonderful time – let’s make it our mission to keep our teenagers safe and off the streets.

The LAST Amelia High School yearbook is officially on sale! The 2016-2017 Amelia High School yearbooks will be switching from a spring delivery book to a fall delivery book. This means that students will receive their yearbook in September of 2017. This change will allow for the spring activities such as spring sports, Prom, the spring musical, and graduation to be included inside the book instead of in the form of a supplement. Seniors will have the option to either pick up their book at West Clermont High School next fall, or choose the delivery option when purchasing and their book will sent to the address provided (students in all grade levels have the option to use the delivery option as well). When using this option, please double check the address to be sure it is correct. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Calton at Calton_b@westcler.org. To order your yearbook please go to http://www.yearbookordercenter.com and use the school code 13603.
