Brantner Updates

Dear Brantner Families,

While it was hot outside, we kept our cool at Brantner as we continued to get to know one another and dig into content in our classrooms.  It was so nice to have our preschoolers back at Brantner too.

In light of the tragic loss of a student at West Clermont High School I want to remind you to make sure you take time to talk to your students about how school is going and how they can remain safe.  Engage in conversations about how they feel and if they are doing okay. If you notice any changes in your student encourage them to speak with an adult. We have several resources in place to help our students thanks to our partners at Child Focus and the Clermont County Crisis Response Team.  You or your child can contact at anytime the Clermont County Crisis Hotline at 513-528-SAVE (7283).

We know that everyone processes events like this differently. Some will still need time, while others will be ready to get back to normalcy.  We will respect the rights of everyone and allow students to see counselors if they still feel the need. I appreciate the patience and sensitivity shown by everyone in this situation.  Together, we will take care of each other and come together as the West Clermont Wolf Pack.

PTO

One way to connect with your child is to get involved at school. We welcome volunteers in our classrooms, simply contact your child’s teacher to see what help is needed. We are also committed to maintaining the traditions at Brantner that are often run by our PTO.  We hope you will join us for our first PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 11, at 6:30 in the library to hear about ways to get involved and keep our traditions alive.

Thank you to our amazing PTO          treasurer, and only board member, Amber Shebesta, for being so thoughtful in supporting our teachers with sweet treats!!

Brantner Breakfast and Lunch Menu

Earlier this week, you might have received a magnet with a district QR code that will take each user to our ‘daily menu’ page in order to see what’s for lunch the next day.  This ‘daily menu’ is updated each day at 2 p.m. One change you may notice from our printable lunch menu is that we will be serving Mexican pizza on Tuesday of Week #4 and Beef Haystack with Fritos on Tuesday of Week #1. There are also some other vegetables added on some days.

You may want to go to the Child Nutrition Menus link on the Brantner website to see the new menu.

West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K

The inaugural West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K will be a cross-country type run/walk that will take place entirely on the West Clermont High School campus. The race will be held on Saturday, September 29, and it will begin with a mass start at 8:00 AM. Participants will follow a course that loops throughout the fields and parking lots of the high school property, and all runners/walkers will finish inside the football stadium.  To register for the West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K visit https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Cincinnati/WestClermontEducationFoundation5K.

WC Connects Parent Education Series

In partnership with local community partners, the West Clermont School District is launching the West Clermont Connects Parent Education Series. These monthly sessions will focus on different topics ranging from: Mental Health, Teen Substance Abuse, Physical Wellness/Nutrition, Technology Safety, and Teen Driving. Our next session called, “Current Mental Health Issues and Trends” will be held on Thursday September 20th during Parent/Teacher Conferences at West Clermont High School.  There will be two sessions: 4:30pm-5:30pm and 6:00pm-7:00pm. All sessions will be held in Community Room A. The sessions are free and the entire community is welcome to attend.  Click here to get a full schedule of sessions being offered.

Kindergarten Immunization

We wanted to remind you that all students entering Kindergarten are required by Ohio law to provide proof of the following vaccinations BEFORE
the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

  • Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis (DTap)
  • Polio
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
  • Hepatitis B (HEP B)
  • Chickenpox (Varicella)

If your student does not receive the vaccinations mentioned above by the beginning of the

2018-2019 school year, he/she may be excluded from school beginning September 7th, 2018 in accordance with Ohio Revised Code 3313.671. Here is a link to all of the immunizations required by the Ohio Department of Health for students to attend school. (Ohio Department of Health Immunization Summary)

If your child's immunization records are not up to date, we encourage you to contact your primary care physician to schedule an appointment for the vaccinations as soon as possible. You may also contact the Wolves Wellness Center at West Clermont Middle School at 513-732-5082 to schedule an appointment.  You may use your current health insurance at the Wolves Wellness Center.  However, if you do not have health insurance the vaccinations will be provided by the Wolves Wellness Center at no cost to you. Vaccinations are also available at many local pharmacies.

Once a student has received the vaccination please send their updated vaccination records to their home school to the attention of the Health Clerk. If you have any questions about the required immunizations please contact District Nurse Heather Burns at
