Dear Brantner Families,
This past week at Brantner has certainly been filled with excitement and anticipation of our Winter Break but also in celebration of student progress! Your child may have come home to share that they have made growth, that their scores have increased, that they jumped in their MAP results in math or are reading more words per minute as indicated in their DIBELS scores. These are all numbers and results that we are working to collect to continue to take measure of your child’s progress in grades K - 5. This data guides our instructional model in helping us to know where your child is ready to go next in mastering the grade level state standards. Look for their results in their report cards that will come home in the new year.
Our two reading specialist, Mrs. Lisa Sheffey and Mrs. Courtney Wallace, are instrumental in gathering much of this data for us and in providing the appropriate interventions for many students as needed. They work to support our students and staff in helping to gather information, analyze the results, set goals, determine the best research based approach to help our students be successful in building foundational skills in literacy, and are always striving to connect and support our students’ needs outside the classroom as well. We are so fortunate to have these two experts working with and for our students and staff!
PTO White Baskets
Our food drive in November showed how generous our families are in taking care of one another! One family shared that they kept filling their wagon from their neighborhood and would show up with their trunk full!
With the large response, the PTO has decided to do something a bit different this year with providing to our Brantner families. We are going to open up the Brantner kitchen as we did during the summer on Thursday evening from 6:30 - 8:30 for families to come fill baskets with food for the break. The PTO will also be providing some perishable items to complete a holiday meal. You are welcome to simply show up with a first come first serve basis or make an appointment by emailing our school secretary, Mrs. Angela Basler, email@example.com, or calling the school, 513-943-6400. An RSVP will guarantee that we will have the perishable items for you as well.
Visitors, particularly parents, are always welcome at Brantner. In order to properly monitor the safety of students and staff, each visitor must report to the main office upon entering the school to sign in and obtain a pass. Any visitor found in the building without signing in or wearing a pass shall be reported to the Principal.
If a person wishes to confer with a member of the staff, s/he should call for an appointment prior to coming to the school in order to prevent any inconvenience or interference with student learning. Teachers will notify the office if they have a planned visitor the morning of the event. Students may not bring visitors to school without first obtaining written permission from the Principal and a visitors pass. Visitors must have a photo ID to obtain a visitor’s pass.
Brantner Elementary Science Mania Club - Grades 1 & 2
Attached is a flyer for a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Club opportunity for our first and second graders that a first grade parent is bringing to Brantner again this year. This opportunity would make an outstanding gift that would keep on giving as your child joins an after school club that will certainly spark their imagination starting in January!

Our PTO is providing our students an opportunity to get into the giving spirit! Students will have the opportunity to shop on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday with their homerooms (teachers will communicate their scheduled day). An envelope came home on Friday for you to help your child build their shopping list along with a flyer to share information about the price ranges.
Thank you to those who have already volunteered to work the workshop.
- We have time shifts that are almost all the way filled but we will certainly take more volunteers on all three days.
- AM - 9:30-12:00
- PM - 12:00-2:30
- Please consider volunteering for a shift on Tuesday as we are still short handed!
- You can email Jamie Black, firstname.lastname@example.org, with insight to the times you are available!
