To Find Out Your Child's Bus Number Instructions bus

Parents,

To find out what time the bus will pick up and drop off your child, follow these steps below.

1. Go to the West Clermont website.

2. Click on the departments tab and choose transportation.

3. On the right hand side of the page, click bus Bus Rout E-Link.

4. The user name is your child's student ID number. The password is their 8 digit date of birth. For example, (08282009).

5. From there you can click on a tab. I think it says something related to students and choose your child's name. I'm not looking at that part of the site right now but it says something like that. It will then show a page of where the bus stop is and the estimated times.

If you don't know your child's student ID, call us at 943-6700.

Please be patient the first week of school as the busses normally take longer to drop off and then it speeds up the next couple of weeks.

2017-2018 School Year Start Times

With opening of West Clermont High School and West Clermont Middle School we knew there would be an increased demand on traffic in the area of the two schools and on bus transportation.  To help with the increased traffic in the area, Clough Pike will be widened between McMann Road, and Bach-Buxton Road.  The construction is currently underway and is scheduled to be completed by June 30th.  Additionally, West Clermont Middle School will begin the day at 7:00am and West Clermont High School will begin the day at 7:45am to allow the middle school traffic to filter out before the high school traffic arrives.

To overcome transportation issues such as geography, the length of the routes, and the ability of a bus to complete the middle school route and then get to their elementary route the district has to absorb 8 buses to make sure they can make the run to West Clermont Middle School and then turn around and make their elementary routes.  To accommodate this, Brantner Elementary will be moved to being a late starting school beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.  The school day at Brantner will now run from 9:20am – 3:55pm.

Brantner will join Holly Hill, Merwin,  Summerside, Willowville, and Withamsville Tobasco as late starting schools.  Both Amelia Elementary and Clough Pike Elementary will still begin the day at 8:20am.

KIDS CARE CLUB & CINCY KIDS 4 KIDS ARE WORKING TOGETHER ON A BLESSING BOX!! SHARING SHACK

Thanks to Missy Bastin and Cincy Kids 4 Kids, Clough Pike has its own version of a Blessing Box.  We have named it the "Sharing Shack".  A Blessing box is a place for people in need to take food they need and for others to give what they can.  The box is located at the East end of the school near the front side door.  The Kids Care Club members will monitor the box and help keep it stocked.  If you are interested in helping, you can drop off boxed and canned non perishable items.  You may put them in the box yourself or you may give them to me and I will make sure they get where they need.  This is just another way for us to help those in need one "paw" at a time.

Thanks!

WALKING CLUB NEWS FOR FLYING PIG MILE

Hello to the members of Pig Pen D (4th wave) for Saturday's 26th Mile event!

Here is what you need to know:

  • The 26th Mile will start at the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and 2nd Street.
  • You should plan on being there by 11:30.  Look for the Clough Pike Walking Club sign.
  • Pig Pens will be marked by large colored vertical "feather" banners and they are positioned along Joe Nuxhall Way from the start line and back southward toward river
  • Pig Pen D banners are orange.
  • We will also have Volunteers holding a sign with wave letter at the front and back of each wave, along with the groups assigned to that wave. Pig Pen A banners are black. Our announcer will also be telling the crowd who is to be in what Pig Pen.
  • Start time is 12 noon, following the National Anthem performed by our intern Imani Rogers. She has quite a terrific voice, so have your kids sing along with her!
  • Waves will be started every 8 minutes so that the finish "swine" moves smoothly and safely. We will shorten the intervals only if the finish line authorities give us the "all clear." Please have patience as we process everyone safely and smoothly.
  • Participants will be directed to "chutes" after they cross the finish and channeled along to get their goodies and medals. They exit at Mehring Way close to where the big red Paddle Wheel Monument is.
  • Stroller wheels can be a hazard to little runners' legs, so please, if anyone is on the course with a stroller we ask that you be very cautious of those around you and stay to the side.

Have a good plan on where your group should meet both before and after. And then enjoy your day and have fun!

IMPORTANT DROP OFF & PICK UP INFORMATION

IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION FOR DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES:

I strongly encourage you to let your child take the bus to school if they live inside Clough’s boundaries. I am highly stressed by the number of potential car riders. If you are going to drive your child to school, you need to enter on the east side of our lot and park somewhere to the right. I will be out there early tomorrow to help. Parents are expected to park and walk their child to the upper grades playground and supervise them until the door opens at 8:15. Parents are not allowed to enter the building in the morning.  Car riders will need to be here at school by 8:05 in the morning so that you have time to park. Parents are not just dropping off students this year.  I’m worried that the line to park is going to go back towards the end of our turnaround. I want students to be waiting in the playground area when that side door opens at 8:15. This will allow us to get teaching in a more efficient manner.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL ACTIVITIES

We will hold our annual 5th grade Walk of Fame on Thursday, May 28th at 10:30 in the morning on the soccer fields behind the school.  At 11:00, we will have an ALL School picnic for ALL students and their families.

WALKATHON SCHEDULE

MARCO'S PIZZA NIGHT

Dear Parents,

Marco's Pizza and Clough Pike are working together on a fun and exciting monthly program. With your help and appetite, we can raise funds for our school on the Last Tuesday of every month.  Marco's Pizza will be sponsoring a competition to win a Free Pizza Party!  On Tuesday, March 31, 2015.

Tell your friends, relatives and neighbors to order Marco's Pizza on this date. Make sure they tell the person taking the order your teacher's name and school.
The classroom that gets the most orders on that day will win a FREE pizza party! Marco's will also donate 15% of the sales generated by your school back to Clough Pike. Marco's will then schedule the FREE pizza party with the winning classroom's teacher and present the check to the school.

THIS PROGRAM OCCURS ON THE LAST TUESDAY OF EVERY MONTH!

LOCATION:  Eastgate  978 Old State Route 74.  Program valid for dine-in, carry-out, and delivery.   513-947-9777

PENNY WAR IS BACK!!

Clough Pike Elementary Kids Care Club will be doing their Penny War from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 20th.  Proceeds will go towards building an age appropriate playground for our Preschool kids.  A portion of the proceeds will also go to the American Heart Association.

This will take place during lunch time all week.  The grade with the lighest bin will win, so students are encouraged to put bills in their own grade's bin and heavy coins in the other bins.

WALKING CLUB UPDATE

Due to the temperature and the snow forecast for this week, we are going to cancel Walking Club on 2-18-15.

WALKING CLUB UPDATE

I am planning on training tomorrow.  The forecast is for 35 degrees and sun with a Southwest wind of 4 mph.  That sounds like good running weather to me with proper clothing.  Please make sure your child has a coat they will keep on while running or walking.  Hats and gloves would also be helpful.  Remember, if your child is in Kindergarten, First or Second grade, they MUST have a parent walk or run with them.  There are too many students for me to be responsible for all of the young students.  If you are not able to train with your child, you need to arrange for another parent to be responsible, an older elementary sibling is not old enough to take an adult's place.

CLOUGH PIKE WALKING CLUB UPDATE

It looks like it will be warm enough to train today.  The forecast is calling for 45 degrees and partly cloudy.  Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing and brings a snack and water bottle.

WALKING CLUB CANCELLED

It will be too cold to train this Wednesday.  Stay inside and keep warm.  Hopefully we can train next week.

WALKING CLUB NEWS

We will be training tomorrow for the final time in 2014. The forecast calls for a temperature of 38 degrees.  Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.  Don't forget a water bottle and healthy snack also.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!  Hopefully this January will not be as cold as last year's.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART

Dear students and families of Clough Pike Elementary,

We are now two weeks away from our Jump Rope For Heart Event at Clough Pike Elementary School. I have heard from many of you and I am excited the event is fast approaching. I just wanted to send out a few reminders for you.

We are currently up to seventeen online team members – that is a student who has chosen to set up a donation page online and raise money that way. There is still plenty of time to do that for those of you who have not yet done so but would like to create a page. Remember, you can send emails to far away family members and/or friends to get them involved in the event as well. To do so, visit http://www.heart.org/HEARTORG/Giving/ForIndividuals/JoinanEvent/jump-rope-sub-home_UCM_315609_SubHomePage.jsp. Click on ‘Register Now’ and it will prompt you through the rest of the set up. If you have any problems or questions, please email me.

Remember that fundraising envelopes and money need to be collected and turned in by February 20, 2015. Any late collections may run the risk of not receiving the appropriate prizes. Please turn them in to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Our event is scheduled for Friday, February 20, 2015. Information regarding this event was sent home with students during the week of January 19. If you did not receive this or have misplaced it and need the information again, let me know, or you can see Mrs. Little or Mrs. Sparke in the main office at school. They have some extra packets.

Thank you for all your help in promoting this event!

"Shine Your Smile Day" is coming to Clough Pike Elementary happy tooth

“Shine Your Smile Day” is coming to Clough Pike Elementary on May 22, 2017

The Smiles Program mobile dentists will coordinate on-site dental care at our school because they know how important taking care of your children’s teeth is to keeping them healthy.  Best of all, your child can receive dental care at NO COST TO YOU, as Medicaid, CHIP and most other insurance cover 100% of prevention.  Dental services can be provided to families who need financial assistance as well!

Tooth decay is the most common chronic and infectious disease among children.  In addition, kids with oral disease can suffer with pain and difficulty eating.  The dental team will set up a mini-dental office at Clough Pike and provide dental services for all children who return completed forms.  The Smile Program has been servicing schools, and creating healthy smiles, for over 18 years.  All dentists are state licensed and will conduct a complete dental exam on your child.  Signing up your children to see the mobile dental team is an easy and convenient way for them to get necessary dental care.  If you want your child to see the dentist on “Shine Your Smile Day” all you have to do is fill out the dental permission slip that will be sent home next week and return it back to school.

You can learn more about the Smile Program at www.mobiledentists.com

COUGAR KIDS CARE CLUB NEWS

Clough Pike Kids Care Club members are off to a busy start.  We are participating in Trick or Treat for Unicef now through October 31st.  We will have a bin in the cafeteria if students want to bring in loose change. Students will be collecting in their neighborhoods now through Halloween.

Next week we will be collecting canned goods for West Clermont's Stuff the Bus campaign. More information will be sent home by the end of this week.

This year we will continue collecting pop tabs for the Ronald McDonald House.  We are in a competition with other local schools to collect the most pop tabs.  Our pop tabs will be dropped off at a local collection center where they will be weighed.  Total weights will be compared at the end of the year.  Please be sure to save all your pop tabs and send them to school.

Our fundraising goal this year will be to help fund a playground for the Preschool classes at Clough. A few years ago we were told the equipment on the K-2 playground was not safe for use by the preschools kids (ages 3-5). Additionally, the play set will need to be fenced in given the needs of the kids using the area. Over the past few years, PTO has purchased several tricycles and a little tykes slide the teachers can bring out each day (and then take inside). We will be donating the funds from our penny war to the cost of new equipment. We are also thinking of other fundraising ideas to help raise enough so that this can be completed this year.

Summer is a time to be active and the library wants to encourage children and adults to include reading as one activity.

Reading is a necessary skill in every aspect of life and the Summer Reading program is a way to help students keep their reading skills sharp. Sign up now to participate at https://oh.evanced.info/clermont/sr/programregmaint.asp?ReturnPage=homepage.asp;&ProgramID=32&Mode=New

Adults can set a good example by reading with their children or on their own, also as a part of the program.

CLOUGH PIKE IS COLLECTING POP TABS!!

Clough Pike Kids Care Club is off to a great start!  We have many new faces as well as returning faces and are very excited about the projects we have coming up for the year.

One of the community service projects we do every year is collecting Pull Tabs to donate to Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House.  We’re helping keep families together when it matters most, and we’re teaching our students the value of recycling!

Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” for the families of critically ill children seeking medical treatment at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.  Pull tabs are recycled to earn money to help provide all the comforts of “home” to these families to help ensure that they stay together until they are able to return to their own home.

Please save your tabs in a baggie and return to school with your child.  We will be collecting all school year so you can still collect over the summer and bring them in when school starts up again.

Little things can make a big difference!  You and your family can help support the Ronald McDonald House of Cincinnati!

Quick Q & A regarding snow day

Q. Will any more Blizzard Bags be assigned?
A. No, the state allowed schools to assign up to three Blizzard Bags. WCSD has assigned all three BBs, with the last one due to teachers, tomorrow, Tuesday, March 4.

Q. Will the state allow more calamity days?
A. Unsure. The Senate and House haven't yet reached an agreement on Gov. Kasich's call to increase in the number of calamity days beyond the five days schools are allotted. The bill has been sent to a joint conference committee, which may take a couple more weeks, which leaves us unsure.

Q. Will we have to make up days at the end of the school year?
A. As things stand right now, Yes. The state allows five calamity days annually, plus three Blizzard Bags days = eight days. Today is our ninth day closed due to snow. We have to make up one day at the end of the year.
PENDING LEGISLATION: The House of representatives passed a bill one week prior to the Senate passing a different bill. Sounds like the House and Senate need to get it together. You might want to contact your favorite legislator.

ROCK THE MALL CONCERT

Dear West Clermont Community,

I am extremely pleased to announce more details about the spring concert. I shared with various groups that I would be doing a spring concert but I kept things very basic. I have been able to confirm details and I am pleased to say that Willowville, Summerside, Merwin and Clough Pike Elementary Schools will be performing at Eastgate Mall. Each of the schools will have a date and time for their concert. This is being called Rock The Mall Concert Series and will feature performances by the 4th and 5th Choruses of the previously mentioned schools. Also, my after school club The School of Rock will be performing four songs.
