Benefits for Teachers
Hospitalization. The district pays 84 percent of the cost of two choices of health care plans, including a prescription card program, to all full-time employees. Part- time teachers are eligible for health care based on a part-time percentage rate.
Dental. The district pays 84 percent of the cost of a dental care plans that covers employees and their families.
Life insurance. A $50,000 life insurance policy is provided at no cost to teachers.
Sick leave. Fifteen sick leave days are provided annually and allowed to accumulate to a maximum of 310 days. At retirement a teacher can receive a severance pay equal to a maximum of 66 days of pay.
Personal leave. Three days of personal leave are provided each year.
Retirement. The district contributes 14 percent and the employee 10 percent annually to the State Teacher's Retirement System (STRS). Employees can retire with full benefits after thirty-five years of service with the state.

Professional Development. Professional development opportunities are provided to all staff throughout the school year and during the summer months. New and expanded curriculum is enhanced by professional development programs. Many professional growth programs are led by some of the district's exemplary teaching staff.
