Immunization Requirements! Attention All 6th Grade Parents/Guardians
All students entering the 7th grade in the fall of 2017 are required to show proof of receiving the Tdap and Meningicoccal (MCV4) vaccines BEFORE attending school. Please see the attached letter and form to be completed by your child’s physician. If you have any questions, please contact the health clinic at 947-7703. Form is attached. /userfiles/922/my files/2017-2018 6th grade tdap men letter and form.pdf?id=8676
Per district policy, students may not bring any medications to school. All medications, even over the counter, must have an AUTHORIZATION for MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION form completed by a physician and the parent. Students have been bringing medications to school to administer themselves. This can be a very dangerous situation if meds are not controlled properly. The form needed can be found on the district website or in the school office.
Mrs. Crowe, WCMS Principal, will be hosting an informal WCMS question & answer session on Thursday March 2nd during the GEMS PTO meeting at 6:30pm. Please plan on attending to hear the exciting things happening for WCMS!!!
SO DO YOU THINK YOU HAVE TALENT? 2017 TALENT SHOW
Thursday March 9th – 7:00 – 9:00pm – Try outs will be on Monday February 27th, 2:30 – 6:00pm at GEMS. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the lunchroom hallway during lunches ONLY, beginning February 21st. Students will sign up for the time they would like to try out. All acts must be appropriate and students supply their own costumes, instruments, make up, etc.
Morning Drop Off:
Please be aware of the traffic patterns and procedures in the morning. We have had some close calls endangering our students. Do not pass other vehicles and follow the directional signs. Only drop off students at the drop off locations by the dumpsters. It is not safe for students to walk through the parking lot with the amount of traffic in the area.
8th grade students:
Were you excited after the field trip to Live Oaks in November? Interested in learning more about a specific career field? Worried you’ll be bored this summer? If you answered YES to any of these questions, you should check out the Great Oaks Summer Camps being offered this June. WCMS Be the Difference Day - February 22-24, 2017
We will be busing our 7th grade students over to the Amelia Campus for a chance to get to know the AMS 7th graders. We will depart around 7:30am and return around 1:00pm. Following is more specific information: Objective: To start the process of getting to know one another as we transition to one middle school. Mission Statement: To promote student acceptance, compassion, and respect through authentic activities in small and large group settings.
Overview of Day
Approximately 210 students will arrive at the Amelia Campus with little to no knowledge about the day’s events. Students are welcomed by a large group leader and the various community adult leaders (you!) who will be assigned to a “family” for the day. The large group leader will go over the day’s purpose, expectations, and conduct icebreakers to begin.
The large group leader will lead various large group activities including “Cross the Line,” which gives students various scenarios where they are invited to cross the line if it applies to them. All adult volunteers are invited and encouraged to participate in all large group activities with the students.
There will be three small group sessions known as family time. This is when students answer various pre-determined questions and share their personal responses in an organized circle.
February 22 - Team Star Quartz
February 23 – Team Diamond
February 24 – Team Sapphire
