Would you ever think that your gently worn, used or new shoes could help us raise money? Well they can and here’s how. Summerside is participating in a fundraiser where there is nothing to buy or sell; we simply need your gently worn, used or new shoes. Our goal is to collect 2500 pairs of shoes. That is only 5 pairs of shoes from each Summerside student. If we reach our goal, we will raise one thousand dollars. This money will be used to purchase classroom enrichment items such as StoryWorks for all grades as well as additional classroom materials that benefit our students and staff.
January is a great time to clean out your closets of unwanted shoes. Ask your family members, friends, neighbors and co-workers to do the same. The shoes you collect and donate will help to support the PTO’s efforts at Summerside as well as micro-entrepreneurs in developing nations like Haiti, Columbia and Tanzania.
Each pair of donated shoes should be secured with a rubber band, shoe laces or string. Donations can be sent in with your child or they can be dropped off at Summerside between the hours of 9:00am -3:00pm, Monday – Friday. Collection boxes will be located in the lobby of the school. This fundraiser starts tomorrow and will run until March 1st.
Lastly, if you use social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, please help us spread the word by posting the attached image along with this link http://ourshoedrive.com/summerside-elementary-pto/ on your accounts. The more shoes we collect, the more money we can earn.
Thank you in advance for partnering with us on this worthwhile effort.
