Revised 2018-2019 District Calendar

The West Clermont Board of Education has approved a revised calendar for the 2019-2020 school year.  The start of the 2019-2020 school year has been moved back to Wednesday August 28th, 2018.  This will allow more time for the staff at Summerside and Willowville to transition into their new buildings and the staff from Clough Pike to transition to their temporary location at the former Brantner Elementary.

Calendar Public Hearing

The West Clermont Board of Education will hold a public hearing about the revised calendar for the 2019-2020 school year on Monday November 5th from 6:30pm - 7:00pm at the Union Township Civic Center (4350 Aicholtz Road).

Dear West Clermont Families:

As your new Superintendent over my first few months,  I have been spending my time listening and learning about the district. I have been truly impressed by the great things I have seen and the people I have met.  I now want to pause to reflect upon the important work we have ahead. As parents and partners in our school community, this work involves all of you and to varying degrees.

West Clermont Words is a blog by West Clermont School District Superintendent Natasha Adams.  On this blog, Superintendnet Adams will discuss a variety of timely issues and provide information that will be helpful to West Clermont students, staff, parents, business partners and community members. It's entitled West Clermont Words because words can help us tell our story, make us more connected, and help us see hope and possibility for our future.  

PTO Dining Night!

Don't feel like cooking? Planning to eat out, but unsure of where to go? Simply looking for another way that you can support our school?  Please join us on Tuesday, October 16 at Rapid Fired Pizza in Eastgate.  Simply stop in anytime throughout the day and show the flyer that can be located on our Facebook page or website.  The WCMS PTSO will receive 25% of all sales for the day!  Please don't forget to share with friends and family.

PTO Alternative Fundraiser

The PTO is running it’s fall alternative fundraiser. Simply send in your donation - that is all there is to it. Every dollar received from this fundraiser will be used to benefit the WCMS students and faculty. We are still $3,000 short of our goal!! Weekly Announcements

Here are the announcements for the week of October 8th:

6th grade dance

The 6th grade will have their “glow in the dark” dance on October 26th from 2:15 - 4pm.  The 7th & 8th grade dance will be on January 11th - students will vote on a theme before the dance! 7th grade will dance from 2:15 - 4pm and the 8th graders will dance from 6-8pm.  Here is a form if 6th grade students wish to buy a glow in the dark t-shirt for the dance here is an order form: http://bit.ly/Glow_Shirt  6th grade students do not have to buy a t-shirt on order to attend the dance.

Students must be eligible to attend the dances.  Eligibility consists of: No more than 1 failed course in for each quarter; Not habitually truant; No office referrals resulting in ISI or out of school suspension.  If you have questions about the list of students eligible to go, please see Mr. Young in his office or email young_joshua@westcler.org

Kelly Sininger Named New Treasurer/CFO

The West Clermont Board of Education is proud to announce the hiring of Kelly Sininger as the new Treasurer/CFO. Mrs. Sininger will replace Alana Cropper who is retiring after 25 years of being a school Treasurer/CFO which includes 14 years of service to the West Clermont School District. Mrs. Sininger will oversee the financial operations of the district which includes: developing the annual district budget, developing the district’s Five-Year Forecast, and all state and federal reporting.

West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K Run/Walk

The inaugural West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K will be a cross-country type run/walk that will take place entirely on the West Clermont High School campus. The race will be held on Saturday, September 29, and it will begin with a mass start at 8:00 AM. Participants will follow a course that loops throughout the fields and parking lots of the high school property, and all runners/walkers will finish inside the football stadium.  To register for the West Clermont Education Foundation Race to the Future 5K visit https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Cincinnati/WestClermontEducationFoundation5K.

WC Connects Parent Education Series

Our next #WCconnects Parent/Education session called, “Physical Wellness and Nutrition” will be held on Thursday November 15th from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.  In Community Room A at West Clermont High School. The session will include wellness and nutirion information from our partners at MercyHealth and HealthSource of Ohio.  The session is free and open to the public.

8th grade Washington DC Trip

Any 8th graders interested in going on the  Washington D.C. trip:  There will be an information meeting on Wednesday, September 5th in the PAC for parents/guardians and students.  Due to space, Parents/students on teams 8-1, 8-2 and 8-3 will have their meeting at 7:00pm and Parents/students on teams 8-4, 8-5, and 8-6 will meet at 7:45pm.  Here is a link for more information: /userfiles/922/my files/s43417 west clermont middle dc pf.pdf?id=11601

West Clermont Connects Parent Education Series

In partnership with local community partners, the West Clermont School District is launching the West Clermont Connects Parent Education Series. These monthly sessions will focus on different topics ranging from: Mental Health, Teen Substance Abuse, Physical Wellness/Nutrition, Technology Safety, and Teen Driving. All sessions will be held in Community Room A at West Clermont High School. The sessions are free and the entire community is welcome to attend.

Please remember that no parent may use the Clough Pike entrance to WCMS for pick-up or drop-off!  Also when dropping off in the morning please use both drop-off lanes and pull all the way up – everyone will thank you for helping us make the process quick and easy!

WCMS Parents and Guardians - the bus company is in the process of adding new students to both am and pm bus routes daily.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused!  We suggest that each student, parent or guardian go to https://elink.nationalexpresscorp.com/ElinkWestClermontCincinnattiOH/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fElinkWestClermontCincinnattiOH each evening after 7pm until August 24th just in case the bus pick-up or delivery time has been adjusted during the day.  User name is your student’s six digit ID number and Password is their birthday (for example January 01, 2005 would 01012005) to check your student’s address and bus route information.  Click on “work with students” then “view my students” then click on their name.  Please call 513-752-4020 if you have trouble or need assistance!

District Convocation

Due to District wide Convocation all West Clermont school buildings will be CLOSED Tuesday August 14th from 8:00am - 9:30am so all staff members can attend. All buildings will re-open as normal at 9:30am.

WCMS Volleyball Tryout Information

Volleyball tryouts for will be held on the dates and times are listed below.  In order to tryout, all Final Forms paperwork must be signed by the athlete and the parent and a valid physical must be turned in as well.  If you have any questions please contact WCMS Athletic Director Tiffany Sawyer at sawyer_t@westcler.org.

2018-2019 Immunization Requirements For Students Entering Grades 12 and 7

All students entering the 12th  and 7th grade in the fall of 2018 are now required by Ohio law to provide proof of the following immunizations BEFORE starting school in the 2018/2019 year:

Any student who has not had the Meningicoccal (MCV4) vaccination prior to entering the 12th grade will not be permitted to attend school until proof of these immunizations has been received by the school.

Buildings Closed for Summer Break

As a reminder most of our buildings will be closed for the summer as of July 1st.  There will be limited hours at both West Clermont Middle School and West Clermont High School.  All buildings will re-open on August 1st.  If you need to contact someone at one of our schools during the month of July please use the contact information listed below.  If may take a few days to get a response.  If you have questions or concerns that require immediate attention you can email us at info@westcler.org.  Have a great rest of the summer!

Athlete Physicals

Does your middle school or high school athlete need a physical for the upcoming season?  Our partners at MercyHealth will be offering athlete physicals for only $20 from 6:00pm - 7:30pm on Monday June 11th at the MercyHealth West Clermont HealthPlex on the campus of West Clermont High School.  Click here to get more information.

Superintendent Finalists Meet and Greet

There will be a meet and greet session for 3 finalists for the position of Superintendent of the West Clermont Local Schools.  The session will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm TONIGHT in the cafeteria of West Clermont High School.  This is a chance for the entire community to come out and meet the candidates.  The 3 finalists are:

8th Grade Dance: An Evening in Paris Paris

8th Grade Dance Friday, May 4th!

The PTSO will be hosting the WCMS 8th Grade Dance “An Evening in Paris” on Friday, May 4 from 6:00pm-8:00pm.  This dance is just for 8th grade students!

Students must be eligible to attend.  Eligibility consists of: No more than 1 failed course in 3rd Quarter; Not habitually truant; No office referrals resulting in ISI or out of school suspension. 

Dance tickets will be on sale for $5 during lunch on 5/3-5/4. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR! Ticket price includes the student to visit the snack table twice during the dance. There will also be a photo booth set up for students to take their own pictures.

Parents/guardians will drop student off & pick students up from the dance by entering off of Clough Pike and parking 2 by 2 in the circle.  Volunteers will come to the vehicles and call out to get students to the correct vehicle.  All parents/guardians will exit using the Amelia Olive Branch exit.

Hiding In Plain Sight

Parents and guardians, this is your opportunity to learn about warning signs that may be “hiding in plain sight” in your child’s room. We will have the “Hidden in Plain Sight” exhibit at West Clermont High School on Thursday April 26th from 6pm - 9pm.  This will be an open house format. Parents of all school aged children are welcome to come in at any time from 6pm-9pm.  The presentation includes, guest speakers and resource information to help prepare you for the difficult conversations with youth about alcohol and other drugs. Light refreshments will be provided. 

Superintendent Search Community Engagment

The West Clermont Board of Education and its superintendent search firm, CF Educational Solutions, has launched an online survey developed by CF Educational Solutions to enable district stakeholders to identify the top qualities they most desire in the next superintendent. Based on the feedback, the Board will establish the ideal candidate characteristics.  The survey can be found at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WestClermont.  The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, May 11, 2018.

2018 Howl at the Moon

The West Clermont Athletic Boosters will be holding their annual fundraiser on Friday March 16th from 7:00pm - 12:00am at Norlyn Manner.  Howl at the Moon will feature a dinner dance and the induction of the Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018.  Visit the West Clermont Athletic Boosters page to purchase your tickets.  All tickets include snacks, buffett dinner, desert, drinks, dancing, auctions, and raffles.  Contact Tara Kaiser at westclermontathleticboosters@gmail.com with any questions.

Wolves Wellness Student Based Health Center

HealthSource of Ohio is proud to partner with the West Clermont School District to provide primary care services at its newly constructed School-based Health Center opening February 5.  A School Based Health Center (SBHC) is a health care delivery model that acknowledges and supports this strong link between health and academics.

TWO HOUR EARLY RELEASE

Due to the predicted weather all West Clermont Schools will operate on a TWO HOUR EARLY RELEASE schedule on Friday January 12th with no AM or PM preschool.  

College Credit Plus Information Night

Are you interented in earning college credit while attending high school?  Then you need to attend the College Credit Plus informational meeting on Thursday January 18th from 7:00pm - 8:00pm in the Auditorium of West Clermont High School.  This meeting is open to all current 7th - 12th grade students. 6th chorus concert cancelled

6th grade chorus concert on Monday, January 8 is cancelled. Next concert for the 6th grade chorus is on February 27th!

The West Clermont Board of Education has unanimously approved a resolution supporting swift action to approve Senate Bill 216 – Deregulation of Public Schools.  This bill is the first step in returning LOCAL CONTROL of our schools back to our community and away from bureaucrats in Columbus.

Mental Health Screening for WCMS Students Mental Health Awareness

West Clermont Middle School is partnering with Child Focus, Inc., with funding from the Clermont County Mental Health and Recovery Board Levy, to bring a mental health education and screening program to our students.

West Clermont High School Craft Show

Make your holiday plans now.  Visit the 1st Annual West Clermont High School Craft Show on Saturday November 25th.  The show will be open from 9:00am - 3:00pm.

The West Clermont Local School District is holding online acutions to auction off surplus items.  You can view the link to the auction below.  Lot 144 closes on Sunday November 26th at 7:30pm.  At this time NO PAST ATHLETIC TROPHIES are included in any of the auctions.

Incoming 6th Grade Transition Meetings

Incoming 6th grade students will tour West Clermont Middle School this week!. The following schools will visit WCMS on the dates and times listed below.  

There will also be two Parent Transition Nights. On Wednesday, May 16th from 6:30 pm to 7:15pm the following schools will be invited to WCMS: Amelia, Brantner, WT & Clough. On Thursday, May 17th from 6:30 pm to 7:15 pm the following schools will be invited to WCMS: Merwin, Holly Hill, Willowville and Summerside.  Your family can attend the Parent Transition Night that works best for your schedule if you are unable to attend your school’s designated date.  Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. 7th Grade Immunization Requirements

As you begin planning for the upcoming school year we wanted to remind you that all students entering the 7th grade are required by Ohio law to provide proof of the following vaccinations BEFORE the start of the 2018-2019 school year.

Central Enrollment Summer Break

The West Clermont Local Schools Central Enrollment Department will be closed for Summer Break July 2nd - July 6th.  They will re-open on Monday July 9th at 8:00am.  

Current Student SnapCode Verification

In preparation for the 2018-2019 school year, current student Snapcode verification information will be sent to families by email and by regular mail to the student's home address.  Snapcode verification must be completed and submitted in order for your child to receive their schedule or to be placed on a class list for 18-19 school year. 

Open enrolled students will not receive their Snapcode information until they have been approved for open enrollment for the 2018-2019 school year.  Please contact our Central Enrollment Department at 943-5042 with any questions.

WCHS Summer Track Series

Looking to get in shape or stay in shape this Summer?  We have the event for you.  West Clermont High School will be holding their Summer Track and Field Series this year thanks to Tri State Running Company.  There will be 1 more meet this Summer on July 19th..  The meet is FREE and open to any age!  All meets will be held on the beautiful track at West Clermont High School.  Click here to get more information. 

WCHS Boys Basketball Camps

Join us this summer for the West Clermont Wolves Boys Basketball Camps!  Two Camps will be offered this year:  Youth Camp (Grades 2-8) June 19th - 22nd and the Shooting Camp (Grades 4 - 8) June 26th - June 28th.  Click here to get more information or to register your child.  

2018 WCHS PTSO Golf Outing

Join us on Monday June 11th at Legendary Run Golf Club for the 2nd Annual West Clermont High School PTSO Golf Outing. The outing will begin with a shotgun start at 12:00pm, and will be a 4 person scramble format. All proceeds from the outing will be applied to a student scholarship and student recognition programs.

SnapCode Verification

Attention parents of current West Clermont students!  The portal to verify your SnapCode information for the 2018-2019 school year will open on May 23rd.  You will receive an email with the SnapCode for each child you have enrolled in the West Clermont Schools.  To verify your enrollment information using your child's SnapCode please vist our Central Enrollment Department page at http://www.westcler.k12.oh.us/Content/CentralEnrollment.  Once the portal is open please complete the process as soon as possible.  If you have any questions please contact Lesa Loudin at loudin_l@westcler.org.

Junior Police Academy

The Union Township Police Department in collaboration with the Clermont County Sheriff's Office, the Pierce Township Police Department, the Amelia Village Police Department, the Batavia Township Police Department, and the Williamsburg Police Department will be holding a Junior Police Academy for students between the ages of 13-17 June 11th - 15th.  The Academy will be held at Amelia Elementary from 9:00am - 3:00pm.  To register for the Junior Police Academy please fill out the registration form at http://www.westcler.k12.oh.us/docs/district/DistrictDocs/JPA2018.pdf.

Giving Tree

Hello WCMS Family –

This year we have many families that are in need of assistance for the holiday season. Below are links to our sign-up genius that has all of the gifts currently being requested by our families. We appreciate your thoughtfulness and willingness to help our school community members that are in need. All gifts should be returned to one of the middle school office wrapped with a tag that states the color and shape of the ornament, gender and age of the children.
