Here are the announcements for the week of October 2nd:
New Drop-off / Pick-up Traffic Pattern for WCMS
The West Clermont School District, after consulting with the Clermont County Engineer’s Office and The Clermont County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Unit, has evaluated the traffic flow pattern for parent drop off and pick up at West Clermont Middle School. It has been determined that there will be a change in the traffic pattern effective Monday, October 2, 2017. There will be one entrance and one exit during parent drop off and pick up. The maps on the email and website highlight the new routes. The yellow arrows indicate the current parent entrance, drop off and pick up. This entrance, drop off and pick up will remain the same. The blue arrows indicate the new exit behind the football field. The district is working hard to clear the exit in preparation of the new traffic pattern. In cooperation with the Clermont County Engineer’s Office and Batavia Township, additional signage and lights are going to be placed on Amelia Olive Branch to increase awareness of the school zone and slow traffic during student drop off and pick up. The main entrance on Clough Pike to West Clermont Middle School will only be open from 7:00am – 1:00pm. The district must rely on prompt bus service at the middle school to accommodate the elementary schools in the district. In order to avoid a disruption in the bus service there is no viable option to use the Clough Pike entrance while the buses are there. The district appreciates your patience during the transition to your new middle school. The safety of our students, parents and staff is always are primary concern. /userfiles/922/my files/wcms detailed pick up drop off view.png?id=10768
Parent Teacher Conferences – October 5th
Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 5th at WCMS. If you would like to schedule a conference, please contact your student’s ‘Team Facilitator’ to schedule. Please see the organization charts on the email and website per grade to find your child’s team facilitator email. If you would like to schedule a conference with an encore teacher please email the individual teachers! /userfiles/922/my files/team facilitators - west clermont middle school.pdf?id=10769

Professional Day – Next Friday October 6th No School for Students!
Students enjoy your day off!
All students at WCMS are learning the PAWS way of life. This includes:
Show Respect (For yourself and others!)
When a teacher finds a student exhibiting excellent PAWS behavior, the student is rewarded with a PAWS Point ticket. After collecting these, they can be used in our school store to purchase items. The PAWS Point store will be opening next week for students and we are very excited about it!
Picture Retakes are scheduled with Lifetouch on October 20th in the WCMS Gym for new students, those who were absent on picture day, or those who would like new pictures. Picture forms for retakes are available in both the 6th grade office and the 7/8th grade office.
Swim Club Meeting
WCMS will be having an informational swimming meeting for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade and their parents on Wednesday, October 4th at 6:00 in the WCMS PAC for those interested in joining the WCMS Swim Team. If you have questions about swim team, please contact Mrs. Bowling at firstname.lastname@example.org
We would like to update you regarding a procedure change we have put into place regarding attendance and the automated all call that occurs when there is an absence. When your student is absent, we ask that you notify the school via a phone call or email with the details of their absence and send in any doctor's notes when they return to school. In the past, if you notified the school, you did not get an automated call about their absence. From now on, you will receive a call stating that our records indicate your student is absent even if you have already notified the school. There is no need to call or email again. The attendance line is 947-7404 or you may email the absence information to WCMS_attend@westcler.org If you receive the automated call/email and your student is NOT absent, please call the office at 947-7413 right away.

WCMS Student Council Mrs. Wendel firstname.lastname@example.org
WCMS Student Council elections will soon be taking place! Student council is composed of students with school spirit who are willing to help with school activities and service projects. Student council builds character and helps develop leadership, confidence, responsibility, organization and teamwork. All of this takes time and energy. There will be times when students need to stay after school. This includes, but is not limited to, meeting the first and third Tuesday of every month from 2:20 to 3:15pm. The first student council meeting will be Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Room #211. This permission slip gives your approval for your child to run for student council, serve if elected, and attend meetings after school. Questions? Please contact student council faculty sponsor Elizabeth Wendel at email@example.com
Homework Help Club
Homework Help Club is also starting September 25th as well on Monday through Thursday each week after school until 3:15. This club is for students who need help with homework assignments.
The following teachers will be advising Homework Help and their classrooms will be meeting places for each day:
Mrs. Lyons (Room 112) - Mondays
Mr. Kilbarger (Room 406) – Tuesdays
Miss Ehrman (Room 117) - Wednesdays
Mrs. Manker (Room 324) – Thursdays
Chromebook Charger (Power Cord)
We have a few reports already of students losing their chargers and requesting new ones. The replacement cost for a new charger is $30. Students must return their Chrome book with its associated charger, each with matching, district-issued barcodes. Failure to do so with result in a $30 charge, even if they return a charger with a different (or no) barcode. A fully charged Chrome book should last an entire day, so students should take their chargers home and use them there. The expectation is that a fully charged Chrome book should come to school each morning.
