Weekly Announcements - Feb 4th

 

Here are the announcements for the week of February 4th:

 

Course selection for Current 6th and 7th grade

Attention all current 6th & 7th grade families! The school counselors will distribute the 2019-2020 Encore Selector Sheets beginning on Tuesday, February 19th. The Encore Selector Sheets are due back to advisory teachers by Tuesday, February 26th. The school counselors will also create an informational video for 6th & 7th graders in regards to how to complete the Encore Selector Sheet. This informational video will be shared with you the week prior . Please contact your grade-level school counselor with any questions.

 

Fourth Quarter Schedule Change Request

4th Quarter Schedule Changes will be due by Monday, March 1st. We will not be accepting schedule changes after this date for 4th quarter. Schedule Change Request forms must be completed to request a schedule change. Schedule Change Request forms will be available in Student Services until March 1st.

 

PTO Meeting

WCMS PTO meeting is on Tuesday, February 5th at 6:30pm in the media center

 

Parent Teacher Conference Dinner

Parent Teacher Conferences

West Clermont Middle School will be hosting parent teacher conferences on Thursday February 7th from 4-7:30pm. Please select ONE team of teachers from your student’s team to meet with. Parents of Students going to DC

If your student will need medication, you MUST have a medication Authorization for signed by a PHYSICIAN. This includes over the counter medications. A PARENT MUST bring the medication with the proper label from the Pharmacy that has the students name, and directions for dispensing along wiht the medication authorization form. Please do not send students with forms or medication to school. Please do not send bottles without proper labels from the pharmacy. Your pharmacy will provide you with a duplicate bottle with label if needed. If you have any questions, please call our School Nurse, Amber Amann at (513) 947-7403.

 

Lost and Found

We have the lost and found items on tables in the Main cafe for students to locate their missing items. If you have been looking for a particular item, please encourage your student to check the tables! There are lots of hoodies, coats, pants and lunch boxes that are looking for their owner. Items not retrieved by February 8th will be either sent to donation or otherwise disposed of.  

 

Parent Education Series

Our next #WCconnects Parent Education Series session entitled, "Family Self Care" will be held on Wednesday February 6th during Parent/Teacher Conferences at West Clermont High School.  There will be two sessions: 4:30pm - 5:30pm and 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The sessions are free and open to the public

 

Dining Night Out

Our next dining night out will be on Monday, February 4 at the Gold Star Chili by Pierce Point. Cheerleading Tryouts 2019

Become a WCMS Cheerleader for the 2019 fall season! Tryout information meeting Thursday February 21st  6-7pm WCMS South MPR Information about our Football sideline and Competition programs will be available at the meeting. Meet the Coaches and learn more about the tryout process. Tryout Dates Clinics: Monday 3/11 5:30-7:30pm; Tuesday 3/12 5:30-7:30pm; Thursday 3/13 5:30-7:30pm. Final Tryouts: Thursday 3/14 beginning at 3pm  Clinics and Final Tryout will take place in the WCMS North Gym; All candidates must have a current sports physical on file to participate in clinics and final tryouts. Yearbook sales have less than a month left!  If you haven't ordered yours yet don't delay!  Go to ybpay.lifetouch.com and use our school code of 13239719.    If you place your order in January for your yearbook, you will be placed in a drawing for a giftcard to starbucks!

 

Girls on the Run

Attention all 6th, 7th & 8th grade girls! Our Girls on the Run spring season will meet every Tuesday & Thursday beginning February 18th after school until 3:30 p.m. Girls on the Run is a program that focuses on empowerment and team building. If you are interested in joining, please pick up your application in any of the two main offices or Student Services. All completed applications are due on February 1st by 2:30 p.m. Please contact Mrs. Stricker with any questions.

 

Harlem Wizards

The world-famous Harlem Wizards will visit West Clermont High School on Thursday, March 7th at 7:00pm (doors open at 6:00) for an evening of great fun and fundraising. Get ready for a high-flying, slam-dunking, rim-rattling basketball show!  The Wizards will play a game against a team of West Clermont administrators and teachers. West Clermont Has Talent will showcase the amazing emerging talent at West Clermont Middle School. the show will be held March 14th at West Clermont High School at 6:30pm. Tickets will be $5. Auditions will be held on February 4th, 5th and 6th in learning lab 149 from 2:30 to 4:00. Students MUST be picked up from the school at 4:00. WCMS Girls’ Softball

Any 7th or 8th Grade girl interested in playing softball this spring, you should make sure all forms are updated on final forms at westcler-oh.finalforms.com.   Our first conditioning will be on Thursday, February 14th from 2:30-4:30.  Tryouts will be held the week of February 19th. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bass through Schoology.

 

WCMS Track Team

Any 7th or 8th graders interested in being on the track team this spring:  Please make sure Final Forms is up to date and that you have added track as a sport.  Mandatory practice begins March 4th. More information will be coming soon! There will be a mandatory informational meeting for any 7th or 8th grader interested in track this Spring on Thursday, Jan. 24 during Advisory in the North MPR.  Information packets about the upcoming season will be distributed.

 

From WCHS:  8th to 9th Grade Transition Dates

Key Dates in the Scheduling Process for current 8th grade students attending WCHS in the Fall of 2019:

February 6:  CCP Parent Information Meeting at WCHS Auditorium,7-8pm

February 11-14:  Current 8th grade class meetings with HS counselor, selector sheets given out (during the school day)

Feb 20:  Course Fair at WCHS on Main St for all students in grades 8-11, 6-7pm; 8th grade parent transition meeting at WCHS Auditorium, 7-8pm

Feb 26-28:  Current 8th grade students enter course selections (during the school day)

Pre School Information

Attention all parents and guardians who have students between the ages of 3 - 5 years old!  2019-2020 West Clermont Wolf Pup Pre-School information is now available. Check out http://bit.ly/WC1920PreSchool to get all your questions answered.  The online lottery begins at 9:00am on Monday February 11th.

Elementary Building to Building Transfer Application

The link to the online Building to Building Transfer request form IS NOW OPEN. This link is available on our website at https://secure.infosnap.com/family/gosnap.aspx?action=17403&culture=en&TriggerAutoLogOut=15.  The link will stay live through 5:00pm on February 15, 2019.

You will be required to fill out the following information:

  • Parent name

  • Residential address

  • Child’s name

  • Child’s grade level for the 2019-2020 school year

  • Child’s home school for the 2019 – 2020 school year

  • Child’s requested school for the 2019 – 2020 school year

  • Names of Siblings

  • A box for a reason for the request, including any additional information you want to share (500 characters or less).

Make sure that you fill out a request for each child that you want to be considered for a building to building request, even if you put their names in the “siblings” box for one of your children. The siblings box helps us cross-connect families, but we need a request for each child.

As a reminder, transportation will not be provided for building to building transfer students attending a district school outside of their home school attendance boundary. However, students approved for a building to building transfer may complete an Alternative Transportation Form http://www.westcler.org/docs/district/depts/22/TransportationDocs/WC%20transportation%20form%202017.pdf requesting transportation from an approved bus stop within the elementary attendance area for which the request was approved.
