Winter Months (Inside) Challenge
As bad weather quickly approaches, we all need to remember to keep active somehow. We may not have an opportunity to play outside. If we do, remember that playing in the snow is great exercise! But for those who will not be able to get outside, there are other opportunities to be active inside and in small spaces.
Your challenge is to do something active EVERY DAY, even if it is only for 30 minutes. (By the way, the goal for school age people is to be active for 60 minutes every day. Try some fo the exercises we do in PE class. Most of those can be done in a small space. You can also try some technology to get you moving. Most of our students have an Xbox or Wii or some other game system. All of them have an 'active mode' - for example the Xbox has Kinect. Try doing activities using Kinect rather than just exercising your thumbs. Wii and Wii Fit have some GREAT activities and gamed for kids - Just Dance, Wii Sports, etc. There is a great website - www.gonoodle.com - that offers a variety of ways to be active for a variety of different ages. Check it out sometime. You can also try one of the 'Active Apps' such as: NFL Play 60, Motion Maze, 7 Minute Workout with Lazy Monster.
Try one, or more than one! Let me know what you think of it the next time I see you in class!
