Hello West Clermont Elementary students and families!
It's hard to believe the end of the year is so quickly approaching! We have been busy in Physical Education class learning many ways to stay active and fit. Students have been working hard both in the classroom and at home ( or at recess, or sports practice). I have seen much improvement!
I have given students a new 'challenge' each time I visit their school for P.E. Many students have been practicing these new exercises at home and may have shown you or tried to get you to do the exercise with them. We have learned crunches to make our 'ab' muscles stronger and Shoulder Taps to make our arms stronger. We talked about ways to stay active when we have to be indoors including some video games (yes, I said video games!) that can keep us active. Those of you with an Xbox Kinect or Wii/Wii Fit can be active using your active video games. There are some great apps that are great for activity. Check out 'NFL Play 60' or 'Motion Maze'. '7 Minute Workout with Lazy Monster' is another and it has '7 Minute Workouts' for adults who want to be active but are crunched for time. Lastly, we learned the 'Mountain Climber', an exercise that combines many differemt parts of the body to help get them all fit.
I wanted to find a way for students to show me what they have been doing so I put together an 'End of the Year PE Challenge'. Be sure to check out all the information on the page by that name right here on this site. Students have the opportunity to exercise and be active and earn points for doing so. When a student accumulates 25 points, I have a prize for them to pick out. All the information is on this site and I have sent the information home with students. Be sure to send me an email if you have any questions!
Good luck with the challenge! By the way, students can earn an extra point per challenge if they get a grown up to do the challenge with them. Here is an opportunity for you to get active with your student!!
