Dr. K's Tip of the Week
Positive social skills help to develop cognition, social interaction, and language. To contribute to improving your student’s social interactions, focus on teaching and modeling strategies that encourage self-reflection and awareness. Encourage your student(s) to think about how actions have consequences. Help students think through different situations and help them to take different viewpoints. Role play different outcomes. In these ways, students can develop and maintain positive social interaction skills.

Concert Do's and Don'ts

As we enter the Spring music concert season, we want to remind everyone about great concert etiquette.
Concert etiquette is a code that polite and civilized people live by when they attend a concert. Concert etiquette does not promote snobbery or stuffiness but encourages consideration for others and enhances the enjoyment of classical music....

Dr. K's Tip of the Week
A common middle school student behavior trait is to test adult rules and limits. Demonstrating these traits is part of the necessary process in transitioning to adulthood.
One strategy parents can use to help manage this transition is to establish connections with their students.  Spend time with your child(ren); schedule family times; encourage them to connect positively with other adults and peers; help them make good decisions about activities and relationships; build a parent network to implement shared rules and responsibilities. Connecting with students is vital in establishing mutual respect.

Dr. K's Tip of the Week

As we teach our children respect, we must set realistic behavior expectations, as well as setting limits beforehand. We must be specific and clear about what our expectations are for our children in any situation. That way, students will understand how they should behave and what the consequences will be if they don’t meet our expectations.   If parents consistently give their children credit for meeting their expectations and consistently give consequences when they don’t, students will behave respectfully not only to their parents, but also to others.

“Our children can achieve great things when we set high expectations for them.                                                                                                         -Jeb Bush

7th Grade Vaccinations

All students entering the 7th grade in August will need to show proof of receiving a booster dose of the Tdap vaccine.  A Tdap form is being mailed home this week and should be completed and returned to school as soon as possible.

Dr. K's Tip of the Week

Dr. Kobman’s Tip of the Week

When children are being disrespectful, parents must correct them in a respectful way. When parents raise their voices and get upset themselves, disrespectful behavior escalates. Parents model respectful behavior when they speak quietly and calmly, make expectations for behavior clear, and give consequences when necessary.

Respect for right conduct is felt by everybody.
