District Adopts New Strategic Plan to Guide Future Growth and Achievement

During the September meeting, the West Clermont School District Board of Education formally adopted a bold new strategic plan to connect the district’s current progress with rigorous priorities for student growth. The strategic plan will guide the district with new mission, vision and values statements and four strategic themes broken down into three-year objective goals.

“Great organizations and teams achieve success through shared goals that are clear and concise,” said Tina Sanborn, board president.

“We developed a strategic plan with specific outcomes in order to help our students achieve even greater success by providing them with opportunities that equip them with the tools, experiences, and knowledge they need to be successful both today in school and tomorrow in whatever path they choose,” added Mike Overbey, assistant superintendent.

This process of creating a strategic plan began months ago with a stakeholder Thoughtexchange involving 1,647 participants answering the following question: What do our graduates need to be successful in learning and life? The process also involved presentations, discussions, focus groups and brainstorming sessions with parents, staff, students and community members.

“I am grateful for the involvement of many people throughout this journey, but we have just begun,” said Natasha Adams, superintendent. “In October, we will activate our internal teams and engage with partners to work through a deep dive and the finalization of a working, metrics-driven plan for each of the four components,” she added.

Adams said the goal is to be fully prepared to share the comprehensive plan with all stakeholders in early 2020.

“We have built a great foundation for our students but now we are taking clear and bold steps to advance opportunities and invest in the future for our students,” continued Adams. “Our new strategic goals and shared mission, vision and values will lead our district well into the future as we provide an excellent educational experience to prepare every learner in our schools.”
